The villa was built in the first half of the eighteenth century by the noble family of Stephen Pisani, who in 1735 commissioned the project architect Francesco Maria Preti. 1720 dates back to the project for the park and for its Baroque architecture, designed by the architect Gerolamo Frigimelica. The big house was not conceived as the other villas of the Riviera del Brenta, just as a holiday resort, but also as a representative residence to celebrate their economic and political power, crowned in 1735 by the election of a Doge Alvise Pisani. The rooms in the villa were enriched by the works of the most famous artists of the time (for the most part still preserved on site), such as Giambattista Tiepolo, author between 1761 and 1762 apotheosis of the Pisani family painted on the ceiling of the dining dance. In 1866, after the annexation of Venice to the Kingdom of Italy, Villa Pisani was forfeited between state assets. It began a long period of neglect because of the large expenditure necessary to maintain it. In 1934 its halls hosted the first meeting between Mussolini and Hitler, but had to spend quite some time before they could undertake the necessary restoration work. Today, Villa Pisani National Museum over the Superintendence for Architectural Heritage and Landscape of the provinces of Venice, Belluno, Padova and Treviso, which takes care of the management with funds from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. Excellencies of the villa in the rooms of the main floor of the villa there are frescoes, paintings and original furniture dating back to centuries. Eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The museum is divided between eighteenth century rooms decorated by leading artists of the period, including Giambattista Crosato, Jacopo Guarana, Jacopo Amigoni, Francesco Simonini Francesco Zuccarelli and Giuseppe Zais, and salt in Empire set up at the behest of Eugène de Beauharnais between 1807 and 1812. Famous is the labyrinth made of boxwood hedges, the place par excellence of play for the vacationers. An elegant Coffee House is located on a hill that hides one of the glaciers in the park. Against the backdrop of the great central parterre rise the magnificent stables.  At the beginning of the nineteenth century it was added to the grove in the western English. The rich botanical collection has specimens introduced at different times by the various owners of the villa. Inside the Orangerie are exposed citrus trees, which are protected in the Great kept during the winter. The National Museum of Villa Pisani provides, upon payment of the license fee, space for temporary exhibitions of art. The Educational Service offers within the project Villa Pisani art, history and literature tours and educational activities in the villa and in the garden historic varied according to the target users.  The Museum Cafe Villa Pisani is a converted former stables recently renovated, is situated in the park of the Villa.

Opening hours of the maze:
9.00 - 13.30 (13.30 - 13.45 only exit) / 14.15 - 19.15 (19.15 - 19.30 only exit)
Maze closed in bad weather or maintenance.
During the summer, the times may change when temperatures are very high. The labyrinth is not accessible to persons with impaired mobility.

from Padova:
State road n° 11 Venezia direction (after the center town of Stra);
from Venezia:
State road n° 11 Padova direction (after the center town of Fiesso d'Artico);
from the motowrway A4:
exit Padova Est, Ponte di Brenta direction
Exit Dolo, Padova direction
The villa is reached also by the bus SITA (from Padova, line to Stra with a stop at the terminal) and with the bus ACTV (from Padova or Venezia, n° 53, stop in Stra). From the center of Stra you reach the villa by foot in 5 minutes.
