Villa Morosini, Cappello, Battaggia, Lampertico, Vanzo - Mercante

Piazza Concordia, 1 - 36050 - Cartigliano (VI)

Built in: 1500-1600
Environmental context: Urban
The Villa was built along the left side of Brenta River and represents a unique and brilliant example for the great Venetian architecture of the second middle of the XVI century. The characteristic builing, dated at the end of the XVI century (1560-1580) is thought to be a work of the Palladian schooler Francesco Zamberlan and finished by the architect A. Sardi. It is characterised by a portico and a loggia in ionic style that go through all its squared perimeter, so that no wall corrupts the extraordinary pictorial effect with bright and dark colours. The Villa presents, both in the inside and the outside, solutions that recall the palladian experience but still are entirely new and original, so that the construction is destined to be a unique architectonical episode. Belonged to the Morosinis, the Cappellos, Battaggias, Lamperticos and Vanzo-Mercante, the Villa is today property of the town and hosts the city hall, the library and cultural events.
